Parade History

2003 - The parade was attended by approximately five thousand people.  The parade had sixty float entries, many bands, including the Tittabawassee Fife and Drum Corps and the Shriner’s Hillbilly Outhouse Band.  We also had a very large Elmo balloon that the children loved.  Following the parade, the public was invited to come down to the Gladwin City Park where the lighted floats and other entries were on display along with Santa Claus.  An exciting fireworks spectacular also took place. 

2004 - The parade was attended by thousands of people.  The parade had in excess of eighty float entries, three bands (Gladwin and Beaverton High School and the Tittabawassee Fife and Drum Corps) and two balloons, which included a 45-foot tall Elmo balloon and a 27-foot tall Rainbow Fish balloon.  Following the parade, the public was invited to the Gladwin City Park where the lighted floats and other entries were on display along with Santa Claus.  A 30-minute fireworks display took place.  A grand total of $10,536.23 was donated. 

2004 Float Contest Winners:  1st Place - Larry's Auto Repair, 2nd Place - Sugar Spoons Red Hat Society, 3rd Place - Koontz Rental and U-Haul

2005 - The parade was attended by thousands of people.  The parade had in excess of ninety float entries, two bands (Gladwin and Beaverton High School) and two balloons, which included a 45-foot tall Elmo balloon and a 30-foot tall Cow Jumped Over the Moon balloon.  Following the parade, the public was invited to the Gladwin City Park where the lighted floats and other entries were on display along with Santa Claus.  A 30-minute fireworks display took place.  A grand total of $10,897.69 was donated.

2005 Float Contest Winners:  1st Place - Skeels Christian School, 2nd Place - Gladwin Rotary Club, 3rd Place - Gladwin 4-H Club

2006 - The parade was attended by thousands of people.  The parade had in excess of one-hundred entries, one band (Beaverton High School) and four balloons, which included a 45-foot tall Elmo balloon, a 27-foot tall Rainbow Fish balloon, a 15-foot tall Sunshine balloon and Otto the Octopus from the Detroit Parade Company from Detroit, Michigan.  Following the parade, the public was invited to the Gladwin City Park where the lighted floats and other entries were on display along with Santa Claus.  A 20-minute fireworks display took place.  A grand total of $11,466.15 was donated.

2006 Float Contest Winners:  1st Place - MidMichigan Medical Center Gladwin Tied for 1st Place with the Gladwin Rotary Club, 3rd Place - Wooden Shoe Big Boys Club   

2007 - The parade was attended by thousands of people during a snowstorm!  Entries included a 45-foot tall Elmo balloon, a 27-foot tall Rainbow Fish balloon and a 45-foot tall Nutcracker balloon from the Detroit Parade Company from Detroit, Michigan.  Following the parade, the public was invited to the Gladwin City Park where the lighted floats and other entries were on display along with Santa Claus.  A grand total of $14,377.00 was donated.

2007 Float Contest Winners:  1st Place - MidMichigan Medical Center Gladwin, 2nd Place - Wooden Shoe Big Boys Club, 3rd Place - Gladwin Co-Op Preschool

2008 - The parade was attended by thousands of people in the middle of our 2nd snowstorm!  Very windy!  Entries included a 45-foot tall Elmo balloon and two star balloons from the Detroit Parade Company from Detroit, Michigan.  We were unable to fly Uncle Sam that night due to the high winds.  Following the parade, the public was invited to the Gladwin City Park where the lighted floats and other entries were on display along with Santa Claus.  A grand total of $14,599.00 was donated.

2008 Float Contest Winners:  1st Place - MidMichigan Medical Center Gladwin, 2nd Place - Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3rd Place - Mark Shull's Wolf Pack Club.

2009 - The parade was attended by an estimated seven thousand people.  Entries included a 45-foot tall Elmo balloon and a 35-foot long turtle from the Detroit Parade Company from Detroit, Michigan.  Following the parade, the public was invited to the Gladwin City Park where the lighted floats and other entries were on display along with Santa Claus.  A grand total of $10,625.00 was donated.  Grand Marshal was Dan Sheehan.

2009 Float Contest Winners:  1st Place - MidMichigan Medical Center Gladwin, 2nd Place - Santa Moose (Molesworth Family), 3rd Place - Wooden Shoe Big Boys Club.

2010 - The parade was attended by thousands of people.  Entries included a caterpillar and a turtle balloon from the ABC Balloon Company out of Plymouth, Michigan.  Following the parade, the public was invited to the Gladwin City Park where the lighted floats and other entries were on display along with Santa Claus.  Grand Marshal was Rosa Herrera and Gladwin County Volunteers of the Year were Bill and LaVel Smith.

2010 Float Contest Winners:  Church - (1) The Springs, (2) TIE - Secord Baptist and Christ the King; Organization - (1) Gladwin Hockey, (2) Girls Scouts, (3) 4-H Float; Business - (1) Steven's Sports Center, (2) Mid Michigan Medical Center - Gladwin, (3) Jim's Body Shop; Family - (1) Millheisler Family.

2011 - The parade was attended by thousands of people.  Entries included a cow jumped over the moon balloon and an elephant balloon from the Detroit Parade Company from Detroit, Michigan.  Following the parade, the public was invited to the Gladwin City Park where the lighted floats and other entries were on display along with Santa Claus.  Grand Marshal was Joyce Swartzmiller and Gladwin County Volunteer of the Year was Darlene Conner.

2011 Float Contest Winners:  Church - (1) The Springs, (2) Christ the King; Organization - (1) Girl Scouts, (2) Gladwin Youth Wrestling; Business - (1) Mid Michigan Community College; Family - Molesworth Family.
