Safety Guidelines

Generator Safety
1.    All floats using generators will make sure that there are no combustible or flammable materials near the exhaust of the generator.

2.    All tow vehicles or floats using generators in a confined space such as in the bed of a pick-up truck with a topper shell will not have any riders inside.

3.    All generators must be in good working order.  They should be tested with the final amount of lights you will have on the float.  It is important that you test and run the generator for a run time of 90 minutes.

4.    Don't forget to fill up the generator the day of the parade.  You will not be allowed to fill them up in or along the parade route.

Personal Safety

1.    Candy or any other items shall not be thrown, tossed or handed out from any float or any tow vehicle in the parade route.

2.    No float riders will be allowed to have their feet hanging over the sides of the floats or from any tow vehicle.

3.    No consumption of alcohol on any float or tow vehicle will be allowed.

4.    No fireworks or pyrotechnics are allowed in or on any tow vehicle or float.

5.    Float decorations shall not interfere with the tow vehicle drivers field of vision and the operation of any vehicle lights or safety features, brake lights, directional or back up lights.

Electrical Safety

1.    All lighting should be in good working repair, no bare wires exposed to prevent shock hazards as well as fire hazards.

2.    All extension cords should be rated to carry the current load and have grounding plugs in place.

3.    Power strips should be wrapped in plastic and all plugs should be taped over with electrical tape.

4.    High intensity flood lights, fog machines and strobe lights should be kept away from flammable or combustible materials or decorations.
